Are You Thinking about DIY Interior Painting?
Do Not Forget This
!

Have you thought about painting the interior of your residential or commercial building yourself? Then, we recommend reading these helpful tips to achieve the same expert results as an experienced painter.

Do Your Preparations before Painting a Room

Yes, painting the interior of the building needs planning and done by many professional painters. But, first, you need to remove obstacles in your way to getting the job started. So, remove that furniture that you do not want to end up with paint over it.

Next, close up all electrical panels, light fixtures, sockets, and remove the doors to make your task easier. Does this sound like too much work? If it does sound like loads of work consider using a painting contractor instead. But there is more.

Prepare the Surface

The next step is to clean the surfaces of the trims and molding before painting them. If you have oil stains, cigarette smoke, or mildew, it needs cleaning before you start. You also need to repair holes and sand down bumps to get a smooth finish when painted. Does this still sound like hard work? Okay, wait a bit, as there is more to do.

Select Your Paint Carefully

For interior painting, you need to determine what are the best products to use by asking yourself some questions:
  • Does the sun enter my room a lot, mildly, or a little? The reason is that the more sun enters the room, the flatter your paint should be and not glossy as it needs to hide imperfections.
  • How much traffic does the room get a little or a lot? If it is a high-traffic area, then using scrub-resistant or washable paint helps to prevent fading when cleaning.
  • What room are you painting, a laundry room, bathroom, or kitchen? It helps to use mold-resistant paint for damp areas, preventing surprises.
  • What color is the current surface? For example, if the surface is dark, you need a shade that can cover that area well, preventing more than one coat.

Do Not Forget the Primer

While using an application, primer is not needed on a good interior surface, but when in doubt, ask a painting specialist. Alternatively, follow the product label to determine the application temperature and drying time. Also, use a recommended roller and brush with the product. Doing this avoids separations and always starts from one end of the wall, moving towards the other side.

A Crucial Step Inspection

A crucial part of painting a specialist will always remind you about is inspecting your work before gathering all your supplies. Check to see if no corner goes unpainted from door frames, inside wardrobes, to your window frames. Also, check for paint drippings and do the touch-ups needed as soon as possible. Shoe, this all sounds like a long process and hard work.

Lastly Comes the Cleaning

Clean up those droplets, you messed and put all elements back in place by removing the covered fixtures and bringing back the furniture. Your interior paint job is finished. Are you ready for the next room?

If the answer is no, hire an expert painter who can get the job done for you without any fuss. A painting contractor will handle the above so that you can sit back and relax.
